The Great Big Tiny ArtSpace Takeover!

A Retrospective Exhibition at the The Doll’s House Art Gallery

We are very excited to announce ‘The Great Big Tiny ArtSpace Takeover!’ an exhibition at The Doll’s House Art Gallery, a new gallery in Macclesfield that’s 1/12th smaller than most! Open Summer 2022.

Macclesfield Community ArtSpace celebrates its 10th birthday this year, having grown from a group of people who created the Barnaby Festival parades.

The evening group “Make-it Mondays” is made up of friendly people with different skills at various levels. Over the years we have tackled a number of projects in different media, such as decor for local events and displays for celebrations. The latest project was to create an exhibition in miniature of some of the things which have been created at ArtSpace in the past decade, presented in a 1:12 scale weaver’s cottage within a 1:1 scale weaver’s cottage. This is an exciting challenge working on a small scale requiring much dexterity and ingenuity!

“Make-it Mondays” (7-9pm) is open to everyone with or without art experience and skills. Please come along to ArtSpace to take a look and meet us if you’d like to see what it’s all about! Once you decide to attend regularly we suggest a donation of £4 per person to support ArtSpace’s charity work.

Exhibits will include:

  • Protest-style banners that are based on those created for the 2014 Barnaby parade when  the theme was “Industry”.
  • A George and the Dragon that were made for the St George’s day entertainments.
  • An Ox that was made for the Chinese New Year celebrations.
  • Various representations of things at ArtSpace!

The curator of the gallery said, “We want to provide a space for Macc organisations, charities and groups of all kinds to promote their work in The Gallery, so we were really excited that ArtSpace wanted to do a takeover and exhibit an installation to reach out into the community as an  invite to come and visit their space. They do a lot of great work for others so as well as doing it to raise awareness I think it’s nice for them to do something for themselves that’s fun and will be visitable for a while.”

The exhibition opens on July 16th 2022 and will be visitable from the street at 13o Park Lane (what3words ///tricky.lucky.lake) during daylight hours every day until sunset on September 11th.
