Help keep ArtSpace open – Donate now or join our Friends scheme.

ArtSpace exists for the well-being of residents of Macclesfield (and surrounding areas) . We provide a large, open space equipped with arts materials and equipment, free to use.

We offer support through involvement in the arts to people experiencing isolation and exclusion, people managing mental health problems or learning disabilities, older people and other disadvantaged people. We help people find confidence and self esteem, share skills and time and provide arts services to the local community.

We run various projects and groups, open to people to join in – or people can come and initiate their own arts activities. One project is the creation and production of the parade for the local Barnaby Arts Festival. Individuals, families, schools and other groups come together to build floats and giant puppets, make costumes and banners, music and mayhem.

Everyone is welcome. No experience necessary. We are an entirely volunteer run organisation and work hard to raise money to keep going. We run a Friends of ArtSpace Scheme for regular donors (See Below).

Or if you want to make a one-off donation this is your opportunity. Help someone find company, confidence and creativity. Art is for Everyone!

Artspace Tales

There are so many people who make our community. Here are some of the stories from Artspace.

Francesca Seabrook (Frankie)
I enjoy Artspace
“Artspace is the place for me to socialise and see friends. I enjoy the sewing group where I have learned new skills. I have also been fundraising for the Artspace, and I like to support others where I can. I get involved with all of this and more.”
Neil Puttick
They said Macclesfield was a 'cultural desert' - Artspace proved them wrong
“When I first came back to Macclesfield, I heard about the legendary Art space where all sorts of exciting projects were made: from parades for the town’s festivals to tech-making sessions for enthusiasts like myself. Whilst I was away, I read a national newspaper article dubbing Macclesfield “a cultural desert” - What I saw when I went to my first session at the space, was proof that our communities and our culture are very strong and we can show what a vibrant place Macclesfield. Artspace was chance for us to prove this...”
